It's odd returning to food writing and reporting after nearly two years

In Washington Irving’s short story, Rip Van Winkle awakes from a delightful nap. He had gone squirrel hunting and encountered a man in the mountains. They carry a keg together, play some nine-pins and then Rip falls asleep.

When he wakes up, it’s 20 years later and the world has changed.
